As a Christian we can have the assurance that God hears our prayers.
1 John 5:15
And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.

1 Thessalonians 5:16–18
Rejoice evermore.
Pray without ceasing.
In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
Prayer is an act of obedience which gives God joy for following his commands.
And of course prayer is an act of worship showing how much we love him.
