Fasting and Prayer Guide

Fasting and prayer guide will help you learn the steps to fasting and paryer.

Why should a Christian fast and pray?

I believe their is power in it and that it can break strongholds and destroy evil.

If you have never fasted before it can be very challenging.

A 24 hour or 3 day fast is what I will cover on this page.

Some may go way beyond 3 days of fasting and you may be lead by God to fast longer.

I also believe that that power of prayer and fasting can even heal our land.

The world is a crazy evil place and if more Christians would pray and fast I believe it could heal the nations.

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Before starting your fast follow the steps below:

Step 1: Determine Why Are You Fasting?

Some of the most common reasons for fasting is for healing, guidance, and spiritual renewal.

Step 2: Pray Before You Fast

Pray for guidance on what you should fast and for how long.

There are some things you should determine before starting your fast.

  1. How long will you fast? – If you are a beginner it’s recommend to start slowly and work your way up to longer fasting.
  2. What will you restrict? – Will it be physical or social or both?
  3. How much time will you commit to daily prayer?
  4. What type of fast does God want you to undertake? – Will you limit a certain food or drink?

Step 3: Prepare Yourself For Fasting and Prayer

There are several things you can do that will prepare you for fasting.

Remember the foundation of praying and fasting is repentance.

You can do the following to help you prepare:

  • Ask God to help you create a list of your sins and write them down as they are given to you.
  • Surrender your life to God
  • Confess your sins and accept God’s forgiveness
  • Forgive those that have hurt you

Step 4: Consult Your Medical Provider

Fasting can be physically demanding so take precautions and consult your medical provider before starting your fast.

This is especially important if you are on medications.

It’s also a good idea to prepare your body by eating smaller meals before starting your fast.

Rushing into your fast is never a good idea especially if you are a beginner.

What should you do?

Below Are Some Considerations:

  • Rest as much as you can
